Mature Christians only need God's Word to become mature Christians!
There are mature Christians, and then there are those who believe in Santa Clause and the Easter bunny! And still others who we find in addiction recovery meetings around the world who insist that God's Word is insufficient, and that they need Bill Wilson's Big Book of the 12-steps! To become a mature Christian you must read and study God's Word diligently under the guidance of The Holy Spirit ! Listening to a false teacher for an hour a week will not accomplish anything in your relationship with Jesus Christ! To become a mature Christian in addiction recovery we must recognize the danger of following or participating in ungodly programs like the AA 12-steps which use absolutely zero scripture, not one word or verse from God's Holy Word, The Bible, to back up or verify any of the volumes of information they write and promote to their followers. Much of which they proclaim to be Biblical without evidence! To become a mature Christian in addiction recovery we must recognize that that we need no more information than what we find in God's Word to lead us to sobriety, and away from temptation!
Ephesians 4:12-14 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV) There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
Colossians 1:28 He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ.
